Thanks to its relatively high setting, straddling the road up to the Gerlos pass, Gerlos is fairly snow-sure - and is linked to Zell im Zillertal in one direction and Königsleiten in the other to form the Zillertal Arena, a fair-sized intermediate area. You really get a sense of travelling around here: the area stretches for miles from west to east. Gerlos has the big advantage of being centrally situated in the ski area, allowing you to explore in either direction each day. It is a bustling resort a bus ride from the gondola that takes you into the slopes. There's a good local terrain park. Après-ski is lively and there are several good local hotels.
