Join us for the next event in the Alpine Insights Series, in partnership with Pure Powder: The Heli Skiing Origin Story 

Take a journey back to the origins of heli-skiing and discover how this legendary way of skiing came to be.

We’ll be joined by legendary CMH Heli-Skiing guide Robert “Roko” Koell, who will share stories and insights from decades spent guiding and coaching in the mountains.

Born in Austria and raised near the Dolomites in the heart of Austria’s ski-racing country, Roko progressed through the Austrian coaching system before moving to Canada in 1989 to work as a ski guide with CMH. The skiing was good enough to keep him there, and Roko has since become a much-loved character within the CMH community.

Over his career, Roko has become particularly known for helping skiers develop confidence and technique in deep powder. He played a key role in developing CMH’s Powder Intro and Powder Masters programmes, working with everyone from first-time heli-skiers to experienced guests who have continued skiing well into later life.

He’ll share how the programme works and what first-timers can expect when making the leap from the piste to the powder.
