You pass through Les Carroz on the drive up to Flaine, and makes an excellent alternative base. In a snowstorm, you can ski the excellent, wooded local slopes; when the sun comes out you can explore the exposed slopes elsewhere in the Grand Massif.

Les Carroz is a traditional village that has spread widely across a sunny, wooded shelf with a mix of charming Savoyard buildings and wood clad chalets - a welcome alternative to Flaine. It claims an altitude of 1200m, but only the top fringes of the village are that high - the centre is at about 1120m. It is linked to Morillon, Samoens and Flaine. It benefits from a very short transfer time to Geneva.
