  • Expect Kitz to be more popular with Brits than ever this year following Dave "The Rocket" Ryding's memorable victory in the 2022 Kitzbรผhel slalom race -

Britain’s first World Cup gold medal ever. The bright red gondolas on the Hahnenkamm now feature Dave’s name amongst the prestigious list of winners on the Streif race course. Why not aim for World Cup weekend again and see if the British team can re-create some of this magic, and experience the unique thrill of a quiet Austrian village brought to life by race weekend? Covering 185km of marked pistes โ€“ topped up by an additional 45km of marked ski routes โ€“ Kitzbรผhel has a surprisingly large ski area. Of course there is the infamous Streif Downhill course and some great steep terrain amongst the woods, but in reality this is a great resort for intermediates looking to put some miles under their belts. You really feel a sense of travelling when you ski from one end to the other and getting around is quick and easy thanks to the impressive lift system.

The town of Kitzbรผhel is as picturesque as it gets and the sense of history is clear. Wandering around the pedestrianised town centre within the old city walls is a great experience and it is certainly different to most ski resorts.

Stay in the middle if possible to experience the resort at its best and make the most of the numerous cafes, shops, bars and restaurants littered around the centre.

With so much to explore, the best way to experience Kitz is using the advice of your Ski Club Rep โ€“ theyโ€™re on hand from January until March this winter. You can also join the Kitzbรผhel group on the Ski Club App, home of our Reps and Members in resort this winter and the place to organise your day’s skiing! And before you go, join our Kitzbรผhel Facebook Page for the very latest updates from the resort and to arrange some ski buddies for your trip.

    Pros and cons

    • Extensive slopes stretching over multiple ridges
    • Very impressive lift system
    • One of the world’s best snowmaking systems
    • Beautiful old medieval town
    • Still some queues during peak times
    • Not the best for advanced skiers unless there is fresh snow
    • Snow quality lower down can suffer, but generally quantity issues are a thing
      of the past
    • Large town and some accommodation can be far away

    7 – 14 Feb 2026 :

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday. We offer a Ski Club Insurance policy which provides the cover we require for all bookings. This policy can be found here: Ski Club Travel Insurance – Ski Club Of Great Britain.

If you decide to purchase insurance elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure that your policy provides cover as that of the Ski Club Insurance policy. The policy of insurance should provide cover for personal injury, death, medical and repatriation costs in the countries which you intend to visit, together with cover for loss of baggage and valuables, personal liability, delay, cancellation, curtailment, missed departure and legal expenses. The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.

Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

Passportย โ€“ Check your passport is in date and valid for travel by checking the entry requirements for your destination country โ€“ you can see these here:ย Foreign travel advice โ€“ GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

For most European destinations your passport should:

    • have a โ€˜date of issueโ€™ less than 10 years before the date you arrive โ€“ if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago
    • have an โ€˜expiry dateโ€™ at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen area

Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel.

NB: Beginning in October 2025, how you pass through EU border controls will change. Find out more information about EES and ETIAS here.

When venturing off piste, it is compulsory to wear an avalanche transceiver. These can be provided by the Ski Club and should be worn by every person on every all mountain, off piste and touring holiday. Anyone joining these holidays will also be required to bring their own backpack, shovel and probe.
