The extent of the ski area may not rival the established Alpine resorts,
but if you’re a beginner or early intermediate looking for an extremely good value holiday then look no further than Slovenia’s Kranjska Gora.
Our only major concern is the altitude and its impact on the resort’s snow reliability, but recent investment in snowmaking has gone a long way to aid the situation.
There’s also a whole host of off slope activities to keep families and non- skiers entertained, from cross country skiing to tobogganing, making this a real all rounder – for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.

On the Slopes
The main attraction here is undoubtedly the beginner terrain located just above the village. This is now fully covered with snowmaking, helping solve some of the snow reliability issues of before, and is an excellent place to learn.
There is fantastic progression from rolling carpets to gentle draglifts and then on to chairlifts of increasing length – so you should improve nicely throughout the week. Night skiing is even on offer in this sector too.
Intermediates upwards will however find the 20km of treelined slopes limited, although the Podkoren blacks (on which annual World Cup races are held) rightfully hold that status and are a challenge to most. Advanced skiers and riders will want to spend lots of time in the park, which has improved markedly in recent years, or with touring skins on their skis or splitboards – the Julian Alps have some spectacular backcountry terrain.
