Each of the village bases offers something different. The traditional villages of Peisey, Vallandry and Villaroger bookend the four purpose-built resort bases โ roughly named after the height at which they are located โ 1600, 1800, 1950 (the newest) and 2000, all of which offer a huge number of good value apartments and are traffic-free.
The terrain is very varied and unlike many big French resorts, there are some great tree-lined runs to head to in a snowstorm โ our favourites are the routes served by the Grizzly chairlift. On a sunny day the Arc 2000 bowl provides some great cruising, whilst the Aiguille Rouge offers some good challenges for advanced and expert skiers, including the epic descent all the way from 3226m down to the small hamlet of Villaroger down at 1200m. Add in the La Plagne ski area and you have access to the worldโs second largest linked ski area.
Each resort town brings its own atmosphere. 1600 and 1800 are the biggest and most lively, with accommodation mostly in the form of good value apartment blocks. The new Mille 8 development at 1800 has made a big difference for families, making this our top choice if youโre heading to Les Arcs with little ones. 1950 is the newest village having been built fifteen years ago and 2000 has great access to the bowl for skiing above. Peisey and Vallandry offer slightly more traditional accommodation and more chalets, all in a quieter, wooded setting.
Les Arcs is a great choice for families wanting convenience, especially as much of the accommodation is in ski-in-ski-out, self-catering apartments. The new Mille 8 area at 1800 is a great innovation and it has an excellent leisure pool at the base as well as skiing and tobogganing. Arc 1950 has a family-friendly layout and also has a good programme of kids’ activities. Family chalet holidays are mostly available in Peisey and Vallandry.
The Les Arcs aprรจs scene focuses on the legendary LโArpette Restaurant, which is packed as the lifts close โ it has to have one of the finest sunset views anywhere in the Alps. Back in resort, 1800 is the liveliest of the villages and Red Hot Saloon or Chez Boubou are the places to head to if youโre staying there. Aprรจs in the other villages is much more laid back, but some decent bars and happy hours can still be found.

The Ski Club uses third party independent assessments and accreditation of ski resorts to determine a resort โenvironmentally sustainable” โ more information can be found here.
As part of the French Flocon Vert (tr. Green Snowflake) scheme, Les Arcs has been awarded two snowflakes out of a possible three, representing significant investment in resources to reduce its environmental impact. Flocon Vert is an independent scheme operated by Mountain Riders, which accredits resorts in France who have met twenty criteria based on environmental, social and economic sustainability; only a quarter of Flocon Vert recipients have been awarded two snowflakes โ no area has been awarded three.

Warm temperatures start the weekend, with the freezing line hitting 4,000m during the midday sun on Friday. This will fall, however, over the course of the long weekend, eventually hitting 2,000m on Monday evening and staying low throughout the new week.
Cloud will dominate this weekend, and with it will come precipitation. This will begin as rain on Saturday, but as things turn cooler this will turn to snow, with around 5cm falling across the region over Sunday evening, Monday and throughout Tuesday; this will fall on higher ground only as the freezing line remains on or just above 2,000m. High pressure returns in the middle of the week with plenty of fine, dry and bright conditions
Thus concludes this season’s snow overviews; thank you to everyone who has read them this season, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
Your Ski Club Reps are in resort for one reason only; to help you discover better skiing. They are your personal resort gurus, with years of experience skiing here and around the world, who will bring you and your fellow Members together to conquer the mountain! Stay up to date with everything in resort, find the best spots for an aprรจs beer, and ski to your heart’s content.
Our Reps will be in resort between 3 January and 27 March 2026, skiing six days a week – Reps’ day off/changeover day is Saturday in this resort. Log your upcoming trip to Tignes now via the “My Trips” function on the Ski Club App to let your Rep know when you’ll be in resort. View contact details, meeting times & points, and social hour details now.
Despite the name, I am originally from Kent and a confirmed Southerner. I manage both commercial and residential property to fund my ski trips and between times am a keen gardener and yoga enthusiast. Skiing to me is one of those essentials of life; there are no friends on a powder day!
We're still finalising our Reps Programme in this resort for 2025/26 - we hope to confirm our complete programme shortly.
Started skiing in Scotland in the late 1960's; leather lace up ankle boots, ski's measured by reach above head, cable bindings etc... Been through many different types of equipment since then, and skiing styles too.
Ski for fun, on and off piste, drawing on experience rather than fitness these days. Can get down most slopes and still do the odd challenge, such as the equivalent of an Everest descent in a day; beat the lift; hit the hundred (kph).
Iโve been skiing, climbing and mountaineering for over 30 years and my enthusiasm for the mountains and wild places continues to grow. It is a great joy to share those special times in the mountains with others so I'm looking forward to an active time as a ski rep with the club this year.ย I am most looking forward to getting off the pistes in fresh snow in some new resorts.ย
I fell in love with skiing after a school ski trip almost 40 years ago and have been skiing ever since. Itโs an exhilarating sport with fantastic scenery to go with it. Whatโs not to like? I was lucky enough to work in Seattle for a few years and skied at every possible opportunity. Whistler became like a second home. Iโm UK based again now, but being a Ski Club rep has given me the opportunity to visit resorts around the world and meet great people. On the mountain Iโm always on the lookout for some fresh powder, but Iโm equally as happy to carve my way down a freshly groomed piste. At the end of the day, discussing the dayโs adventures over an aprรจs drink is the icing on the cake.
I've skied in many of the well-known (and several not so well known) European and N American ski areas. I love tree skiing - preferably during a snow dump in one of the myriad resorts around Park City. In recent years I have discovered that I really enjoy ski touring as a change from resort-based piste and off-piste skiing. When it's too warm to go skiing I spend my time sailing around the Scottish West coast.
