Meiringen is an old town in the broad Haslital valley and is a great outing from the nearby Jungfrau resorts or Interlaken, but is a good holiday destination in its own right.
A cable car from town and high speed lifts take you into the slopes, which are on a broad, sunny mountainside spread across two main sectors. The area is particularly suitable for beginners and confident intermediates – experts will find little to challenge them and early intermediates will find a lack of blue runs.
Most visitors stay in the town of Meiringen in the valley, but there’s also the option to stay up the hill in Hasliberg if you’re looking for ski-in ski-out access. On the mountain there’s a good choice of mountain restaurants, and the resort is great for families with lots to do away from the slopes. There’s a choice of hotels and plenty of apartments, but note that most of the restaurants are hotel-based.

Warm conditions dominate over the whole Swiss Alps over this week and into the weekend, as the freezing line remains stubbornly high until the end of this week. cloud and a few flurries of snowfall will move in at times, especially overnight, but this will barely be enough to register on the snow stake.
The freezing line drops gradually as the weekend approaches, dropping consistently to 1,000m on Saturday across the region. Saturday will also see some more unsettled weather move in including snowfall; around 10cm will fall across eastern areas, rising to 25cm over more westerly reaches. The freezing line will be lower in the east than west, meaning most of the best of this snowfall will be over upper slopes above 1,500m.
Sunday should dawn fine, dry and bright across the region, cold overnight temperatures climbing considerably in the midday sun as a spring-like freeze-thaw cycle begins. A mix of cloud and sun will then be the theme of the new week.
