Forecast today: Clear skies
Ski Club Experiences (previously Instructor-led Guiding, ILG) are no longer being offered by the Club. You are invited to ski with the Club via our Reps service, with details available here.
Most of the skiing is on high, big mountain terrain above the treeline, with the off piste itineraries the undoubted highlight. For experts the choice is almost limitless, but there are some good on piste routes and the adventure to the far end of the 4 Vallées ski area is well worth the effort – just make sure first that you’re comfortable with long draglifts.
Most of the resort spreads out from the Place Centrale and the base of the Medran gondolas, which form the buzzing hub of what is now a pretty big town.
Luxury chalets and hotels extend up and down the sunny plateau – so be prepared to walk a little bit to get to the slopes or back from town in the evening. The eating out options – both on and off the slopes – are extensive but can also be slightly on the expensive side, even by Swiss standards.
The nursery slopes are very central and the ski school’s facilities are good, so this is a good place to bring the little ones, especially as nanny services are aplenty. Off the slopes there is plenty to keep children busy, with the sledge run in La Tsoumaz particularly popular – it is one of the longest in the whole of Switzerland.
The Verbier après scene is as vibrant as it gets – but do try and make the most of happy hours and just be careful not to get too carried away as drinks are not cheap! The action starts on the slopes at Chalet Carlsberg and the yurts of Bar 1936 before moving on to two of the best resort bars in the Alps – Farinet and Pub Mont Fort. T-Bar is also popular with British visitors and hosts the Ski_Club’s_nightly_social_hour. If you make it out later then the famous Farm Club is the place to be seen.
Opens: Saturday 7 December 2024
Closes: Monday 21 April 2025
Updated for 2024/25
There is plenty of excellent skiing in Verbier, but anyone beyond beginner level will want the whole 4 Vallees area pass – the difference in price is less than 10 CHF for a six-day adult pass, so the full pass provides good value skiing. Children born in 2018 and later, and seniors born 1947 and earlier ski for free.

Some great skiing, around Attelas,we then headed up Jumbo ,from there we had a good vantage point,to watch the Bec des Rosses Freeride competition, in fantastic conditions, the atmosphere was amazing, great show of skill from all the competitors, we had a coffee shop at Cabane Mont fort, before heading up Jumbo Skiing down the bumps to Tortin, which by then were much softer!
Clear blue warm skies, until 1 pm then hazy sunshine, with light winds up high, a change is a coming!

Unsettled conditions over Europe continue into the weekend, with a last hurrah before a return of fine, dry and brighter weather into the new week. Snow will fall overnight Friday into Saturday, followed by around half a foot down on Saturday. The freezing line at this time will hover around 2,000m, however, meaning the best of this will be found across higher ground, with the tail end reaching lower slopes as the freezing line drops overnight into Sunday.
High pressure returns from Monday onwards, bringing with it plenty of sunshine. Things will be cool for many areas, as the freezing line climbs to 1,500m in the midday sun, but not much further, and drops off to around 500m overnight.
