Current conditions:
Much of the terrain is pretty and tree-lined, and the vast majority is rated red, making this a paradise for intermediates that love to clock up big miles each day. The lift system is very impressive and you’ll spend most of your day riding fast gondolas or high-capacity chairlifts, plus the key connection in the linked ski area – the 130-person G-Link cable car. It is also part of the wider Ski Amadé ski area, providing hundreds of kilometres of further pistes.
Wagrain itself is quite a large resort base, with the centre located around 500m away from the base of the access lifts. There is however, accommodation right between it and the base of the two main access lifts – the fantastically named Flying Mozart gondola and the two lifts heading up to Grafenberg. There’s a good selection of bars and restaurants, plus the impressive Wasserwelt Amade swimming complex in the heart of town. Wagrain is only an hour’s drive from Salzburg Airport, making it one of the best resorts in Austria for a weekend trip.
