This holiday has already departed.
Argentière is part of the famous Chamonix valley and is home to the highest point - the Grands Montets at 3275m - the start of some truly stunning off piste descents and glacial terrain. The other areas of the Chamonix valley are also within easy reach so you can go to wherever you’ll find the best conditions for the day.
Argentière is nice contrast to the bustle of Chamonix itself, and serves as a handy base for reaching the easier slopes at Balme too, above the tiny village of Le Tour, or 4km in the opposite direction to Flégère. There's a lot of modern development, but the village retains a certain rustic appeal and there are plenty of informal hotels, bars and restaurants with as much variety as you'd expect to cater for the range of international visitors.
The family run 3* Hotel de la Couronne is centrally situated a mere 900 yards from the ski aera. The building and is simple but comfortable and welcoming. Many rooms offer impressive views of Mont Blanc, as does the restaurant.
The mountain hut will be determined by the guide closer to the time pending conditions.
