ON SNOW EXPERIENCE
Explore this legendary area’s best off piste routes over three days in the company of a mountain guide. Trips to La Grave may involve skinning to access the best descents, so a good base level of fitness is advised to allow you to get the most out of your weekend. Due to La Grave’s terrain this trip is aimed at Advanced (Purple) and Expert (Gold) off piste skiers. If you are unsure of your level please see our Ski Profile Page.
The 3* Auberge Edelweiss is located less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Telepherique and is the perfect base for winter activities. You will be staying in twin share accommodation with 4 night’s half board, with lunch bought on the mountain. The building is a centuries old coaching inn, and is steeped in history and charm. The interior is furnished in a rustic, chalet style, and the cosy lounge is the perfect place to relax after a long day on the slopes. Other than a few cosy bars and local amenities, there is not much in the way of après or off-snow activity, but after a long day conquering skinny couloirs and shredding steep tree lines what more could you need?
This holiday includes both your flights and transfers. The flights are with British Airways, departing from London Gatwick, South Terminal. Ski carriage is payable at the airport only and cannot be pre-booked. Your Ski Club Rep will coordinate the coach transfer from Turin airport, so please look out for them in the main arrivals hall. They will be wearing their blue Ski Club jacket. The transfer will take roughly two hours and thirty minutes.
If these arrangements are not convenient you may be eligible to organise your own travel and receive a nominal discount from the holiday cost. If you can find alternative flights that coincide with our flight times then it may be possible to meet the group at the arrival airport and take our transfer to resort. Please contact the Freshtracks office on 02084102022 in order to discuss this further.
La Grave enjoys cult following among the freeride community, with guests coming for only one reason - to ski its legendary, almost entirely un-pisted terrain. The resort has around 500 visitor beds and one serious lift serving a high, wild and almost entirely off-piste mountainside. The result: an exciting, usually crowd-free area that should always be explored with a guide, except for those intimately familiar with the slopes. With a vertical drop totaling 2,150 meters, interspersed with couloirs and rocks, it attracts a very specific group of thrill seekers. It is widely regarded as some of the best lift-accessible terrain in the world. For more information on La Grave, please visit the La Grave Resort Page.
If you wish to hire boots/skis we recommend Objectif Meije, which is located just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. They offer Ski Club members a 10% discount.
