This Peak Experience trip will allow you the opportunity to explore 4 areas within 8 ski days (10 nights). Experience some great skiing in Marmot Basin, Sunshine, Lake Louise and Mt. Norquay. Make sure you take in the stunning views when travelling from Jasper to Banff through the Icefields Parkway.
ON SNOW EXPERIENCE
With your Ski Club Rep, you will spend 3 days exploring the varied terrain of Marmot Basin. You’ll then spend 5 days skiing the resorts of Banff: Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise.
This holiday is aimed at Intermediate (Silver) to Advanced (Purple) off piste skiers. If you are unsure of your ski level, please see our Ski Profile Page. At the end of the week, you will receive an updated grading from your Ski Club Rep.
One thing to be aware of is how the off piste policy differs to Europe. Resorts will have an outer boundary, rather than on piste and off piste areas, with everything that sits inside this counted as patrolled and managed terrain. This allows you the freedom to ski any line that takes your fancy, without having to worry about snow conditions. You will remain ‘in-bounds’ for the duration of the trip
In Jasper you’ll spend 4 nights B&B in twin share rooms at the 3* Crimson Hotel . The Crimson Hotel is centrally located in the town of Jasper, a historic trading outpost that feels wonderfully trapped in time. On a quiet evening, it’s quite likely you will spot more elk than people wandering the streets.
When you reach Banff, you will spend 6 nights B&B in twin share rooms at The 3* Banff Park Lodge. The Banff Park Lodge is a quiet location with access to the lively downtown area of Banff, and close to the three local Ski Resorts of Lake Louise, Sunshine Village & Mt. Norquay.
A set group transfer will be arranged from Calgary Airport to the town of Jasper. Please request the suggested flight times from the ski club office, as your flight will need to arrive in plenty of time to make the group transfer. Your Ski Club Rep will be in the arrivals hall, wearing their blue Ski Club jacket.
A group transfer between Jasper and Banff is also included within the holiday. This journey will take you through the beautifully scenic Icefields Parkway.
A set group transfer will be arranged from Banff to Calgary Airport at the end of the trip. Again, please contact the Ski Club office for the recommended flight times. You can call the Freshtracks team on 020 8410 2022 for further information.
Marmot Basin offers terrain both above and below the treeline, giving it a huge variety of terrain for a single mountain. Expect to ski open alpine bowls, chutes, trees and bumps if you want the challenge. Breath-taking views await you as you ride the chairs up the mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Given the remote setting, the runs also tend to be wonderfully uncrowded, even by Canadian standards.
The first thing to be aware of is that Banff itself is not a resort, but rather the town that gives access to the three ski areas situated within the majestic Banff National Park. These resorts offer more than 300 trails and an average seasonal snowfall of 9m. Banff town is lively, despite winter actually being the off season. Expect a bustling main street and a wide array of restaurants and bars to keep you entertained. For more information on Banff and Marmot Basin, please visit their respective resort guides.
If you require ski hire in Marmot Basin, this can be arranged through the club at the Marmot Basin ski shop. We will be able to supply you with reduce hire rates closer to the trips departure. For you stay in Banff, we recommend hiring equipment from the Ski Big 3 ski hire shop, which is located in Banff itself.
