Between 5-15cm of new snow was recorded by weather stations across Switzerland on Tuesday morning, before the skies cleared to reveal a beautiful day up in the mountains.
The snow significantly improved the on piste conditions, which were struggling after the warm weather at the weekend and the high winds of last week. Verbier was reporting good conditions and almost all lifts were open, whilst the Jungfrau Region was fully up and running – albeit with a few piste closures lower down due to the thin snow base.
A snow front is set to hit the Swiss Alps on Wednesday, bringing 5-15cm of new snow to the country (favouring eastern resorts such as Laax and Arosa) before the skies clear for Thursday. A few snow showers may drop a couple more centimetres of the white stuff on Friday, before the mild, sunny weather returns at the weekend.
