Meiringen Ski Resort
With spectacular views over the Jungfrau Region peaks and 60km of varied, snowsure slopes, Meiringen is a underrated Swiss option.
Meiringen is an old town in the broad Haslital valley and is a great outing from the nearby Jungfrau resorts or Interlaken, but is a good holiday destination in its own right. A cable car from town and high speed lifts take you into the slopes, which are on a broad, sunny mountainside spread across two main sectors. The area is particularly suitable for beginners and confident intermediates – experts will find little to challenge them and early intermediates will find a lack of blue runs.
Most visitors stay in the town of Meiringen in the valley, but there's also the option to stay up the hill in Hasliberg if you're looking for ski-in ski-out access. On the mountain there's a good choice of mountain restaurants, and the resort is great for families with lots to do away from the slopes. There's a choice of hotels and plenty of apartments, but note that most of the restaurants are hotel-based.
