After another 24 hours of non stop snow, Friday started with flat light and only a few pistes open. By 11 the sun appeared and everyone was able to appreciate the fresh snowfall. One group enjoyed the off piste including the Paradise Itinerary run and fresh powder to both sides of the newly open Tufteren run. The other group stayed mainly on the piste and skied all of Sunnegga bar Rothorn which was still shut due to potential avalanches. The pistes were in excellent condition. A late lunch was enjoyed at Alder Hutte admiring the Matterhorn views before skiing back to the village to finish.
Cloudy first thing, sunny by late morning, very windy on Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn. A lot of blasting took place this morning and although the avalanche risk is shown as 3, the wind is likely to have an impact on the off piste.
The Gornergrat railway is still out of action due to tree damage which I apparently considerable.
