The atmospheric river that provided a record breaking February snowfall wise to resorts in the Sierra range has finally eased off, at least for the time being. In its wake however masses of fresh snow leading to substantially improved piste depths and what will be many months of great riding conditions. In the last five days alone, more than 250cm have fallen at the highest points. Moving forward, resorts in the area can expect more changeable conditions, with periods of sunshine – an unseen sight for much of the last month.

Resorts in Southern Colorado also enjoyed some impressive snowfall amounts, with Purgatory taking the lead of more than 50cm from Friday – Saturday. This coming week, resorts in the Pacific North West, including Timberline and Mount Hood are likely to see some of the best conditions fresh snowfall wise with 20cm expected to fall on Tuesday 19th alone. On the other cost, Vermont and Maine based resorts will see changeable conditions and temperatures, shifting any precipitation between rain and snow on consecutive days.
