Les Menuires is located halfway between Val Thorens and St Martin de Belleville and has incredibly easy access to the rest of the extensive slopes of the Three Valleys.

Two lifts whisk you to the crossing points over to the Méribel Valley, from which the entire ski area opens up. Most of the lifts are fast, but note that you will need to queue at peak holiday times. The local slopes are mostly rated blue, so if you’re a more advanced skier or boarder you may want to look elsewhere. If it is busy, the Pointe de la Masse zone to the west is a great option as it often sees lower levels of skier traffic.

The village is not the prettiest and is dominated by large apartment blocks, however recent efforts to improve the aesthetics have helped and more modern developments are much nicer. That being said, the resort is very convenient, with loads of slopeside accommodation and a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants for a resort of its size. Everything is generally better value here than at nearby resorts, making this a good option if you’re looking to save a few euros. Getting here takes around 2.5 hours from Geneva if there’s no traffic.

Ski Club Recognised: Environmentally Sustainable Resort

The Ski Club uses third party independent assessments and accreditation of ski resorts to determine a resort “environmentally sustainable” – more information can be found here.

As part of the French Flocon Vert (tr. Green Snowflake) scheme, Les Menuires – as part of the wider Belleville commune including St Martin and Val Thorens – has been awarded one snowflake out of a possible three, representing investment in resources to reduce its environmental impact. Flocon Vert is an independent scheme operated by Mountain Riders, which accredits resorts in France who have met twenty criteria based on environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Les Menuires and the Belleville valley was first accredited in 2022
The ecological governance of the resort drew particular attention, including preserving several rare natural habitats
A comprehensive package of support is in place to support diversification of the local economy

Warm temperatures start the weekend, with the freezing line hitting 4,000m during the midday sun on Friday. This will fall, however, over the course of the long weekend, eventually hitting 2,000m on Monday evening and staying low throughout the new week.

Cloud will dominate this weekend, and with it will come precipitation. This will begin as rain on Saturday, but as things turn cooler this will turn to snow, with around 5cm falling across the region over Sunday evening, Monday and throughout Tuesday; this will fall on higher ground only as the freezing line remains on or just above 2,000m. High pressure returns in the middle of the week with plenty of fine, dry and bright conditions
