The local slopes are pretty and tree-lined, mostly rated blue and served by the recently-built Montalbert gondola. From here, a choice of two chairs gets you in to La Plagne Centre and into the heart of the main ski area, which is home to a fantastic variety of slopes. The trip across to Les Arcs takes a while (you’ll need to catch at least 5 lifts) but is well worth it if you’re an adventurous skier
The village is compact and convenient, with accommodation located in a horseshoe around the base of the main access gondola. There’s a decent selection of restaurants both here and on the slopes, plus the added attraction nearby of the La Plagne bobsleigh track just up the road. Getting here is easy – only 2.5 hours from Geneva.
