Member Meetup: Lake District Stroll

Join your fellow members in the Lake District for a member meet-up before the ski season kicks off!

Some of our wonderful members have put together a relaxed meetup in the Lake District – expect stunning views, cosy coffee stops, and plenty of time to catch up with ski friends old and new.

Event details: 

• Saturday 1st November 2025
• Meet time: 10 am
• Walk time start: 10:30 am
• Ullswater, Lake District
• Hosts: Helen Ball and James Rawes – Please note, they are members from the area, not leaders/guides 
• Why not bring a friend along- the more the merrier!

Travel 

• Meeting point: The weather vane, outside the Crown Inn
• Approx. 15 minutes from M6 Junction 40, along the A592.
• Nearest station: Penrith. For anyone coming by train, we can most likely arrange for a lift from Penrith Station.
• The 509 Bus leaves the station at 09:00 and arrives at Pooley Bridge at 09:18 (Saturday service).
• The 508 leaves the station at 09:50 and arrives at 10:20 (daily service).

• Parking: 2 National Park car parks and a couple of farmers’ fields that allow all-day parking;  Sunnyside just after The Sun Inn, £4.

The Walk: This is a straightforward moderate walk with super views of the lake and surrounding fells. The ground underfoot on the fells will most likely be very wet, so good boots are essential. Poles are useful too.

• Approx. 6 miles.
• Pooley Bridge to Arthur’s Pike (530m) on the east side of the lake via The Cockpit stone circle. Return via Park Foot.
• There are options to extend the walk for those who might like to.
• Approx. 3hrs allowing for photos and stops.
• Kit: walking boots, waterproofs, snacks, drink, weather-appropriate clothing!

If anyone wants to make a weekend of it, see Visit Ullswater for accommodation and general information about the area. There is a good choice of campsites in the immediate area. Park Foot is particularly suitable
