Britain’s most successful men’s alpine ski racer, Dave Ryding, has joined the Ski Club of Great Britain as an official ambassador, alongside Britain’s most successful female World Cup and Olympic alpine ski racer, Chemmy Alcott.

Following his retirement from full-time competition at the end of the 2025/26 season, Dave will work closely with the Ski Club to inspire and engage members through exclusive content, events and experiences throughout the 2026/27 season.

As part of the partnership, Dave will contribute regular content across the Ski Club’s social media channels, SKI Magazine and website, offering members unique insights from one of the sport’s most respected figures. He will also take part in member events, including an online talk and an indoor ski workshop, giving members the opportunity to learn directly from one of Britain’s greatest-ever athletes.

Dave’s remarkable career spanned 17 seasons on the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup circuit, five Winter Olympic Games and nine FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. Widely regarded as Britain’s greatest male alpine ski racer, he made history in 2022 when he became the first British skier to win a FIS Alpine Ski World Cup race, claiming a memorable slalom victory in Kitzbühel. Over the course of his career, he secured seven World Cup podiums and inspired a generation of British skiers through his determination, talent and passion for the sport.

After competing in his fifth Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina and concluding an extraordinary racing career, Dave has decided to focus on family life while exploring new opportunities within the snowsports industry.

Dave Ryding said:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Ski Club of Great Britain as an ambassador, and it is a partnership I am incredibly proud to be a part of. The Ski Club holds such a special place at the heart of British skiing, and to represent that feels truly meaningful to me.

“This coming season is one I have been looking forward to more than any other. For the first time in my career, I will be experiencing winter without slalom gates, and I genuinely cannot wait. Skiing has always been my life, but there is a whole world of the mountain I have been racing past for years, and I am ready to explore every bit of it.

“There really is no sport like skiing. That feeling of standing at the top of a mountain, taking in everything around you before choosing your own line down. The freedom, the exhilaration and the sense of adventure are completely unmatched.

“I am excited to share that passion with the Ski Club community and hopefully inspire more people to experience everything this incredible sport has to offer.”

Katy Ellis, General Manager of the Ski Club of Great Britain, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Dave Ryding as a Ski Club Ambassador. Dave is not only one of Britain’s greatest-ever alpine skiers, but also an inspirational figure whose passion, dedication and love for the sport perfectly reflect the values of the Ski Club. We look forward to working together to inspire skiers of various abilities, share his unique insights and experiences, and help more people enjoy everything that makes skiing such a special sport.”

Dave joins the Ski Club at an exciting time as the organisation continues to expand its programme of member benefits, events and holidays. Alongside access to ambassadors such as Dave and Chemmy, members enjoy a wide range of benefits, including travel insurance, discounts on holidays and equipment, social skiing opportunities with Ski Club Reps in resorts across the Alps and Whistler, and an expanding Freshtracks holiday programme catering for skiers of all abilities.

Through his ambassadorial role, Dave will help bring members even closer to the sport they love, sharing his expertise, experiences and enthusiasm for skiing both on and off the mountain.
