If you're looking for a sense of travel whilst on your skis and the chance to ski kilometre after kilometre of pristine, snowsure pistes
then Gerlos is a great choice. It’s perhaps a little unknown to the UK market, but the slick lift system (it is has one of the best in the Alps) accesses a great selection of groomed terrain, as well as some decent off piste pockets too. The location of Gerlos is ideal as it sits at the heart of the ski area, with great access to Zell am Ziller to the west and Königsleiten to the east.
Gerlos is a lively but small resort and is located an hour from Innsbruck, making this a great weekend destination. Access was transformed from the village up to the slopes in 2016 following the construction of the Dorfbahn Gerlos gondola, a slick 10-seater lift with heated seats, which saves the bus ride to the Isskogelbahn in the morning.

Spring continues across the Austria Alps, as the freezing line remains stubbornly high throughout the region; consistently above 2,000m through the middle of the week, dropping at times no lower than 2000m.
This will change as the week moves towards its conclusion, with he freezing line dropping steadily reaching a nadir at 1,000m into the weekend. Snow will then come in a couple of flurries over the weekend, albeit barely enough to register on the snow stake.
The new week will remain cold, with a mix of sunshine and snowfall coming later in the week.
