There's no central village, but then most visitors are locals on day trips from the city.

Krvavec has some of the country’s steepest slopes, including five black runs. It is a lively place, especially at weekends. Most visitors are families on day trips. Bled is 40 minutes by daily bus (free with the lift pass). There is no resort, but there is one hotel on the slopes and some lodging in nearby Cerklje. The local lift pass also covers Rogla, near Maribor. A gondola goes up to the slopes, which span three partly wooded hills from a high point of 1970m.

The lifts include a six-pack and a quad; queues are rare. The pistes get a lot of sun, though snowmaking is extensive and grooming good. There’s a terrain park, a good nursery slope and a children’s area with a fun park, moving carpet and drag lift. But there are few easy blues to progress to. The mid-mountain Plaza has picnic spots and snack bars. There are huts on the Kriska Planina area. Snowshoeing is popular, and you can try airboarding and tobogganing – floodlit on Friday and Saturday evenings.

For most of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, mild and fine, dry and bright conditions will dominate across this week and into the weekend. Sun, sun and more sun will be the theme of the week, with very little cloud to get in the way!

Further south, conditions will be a little cooler and unsettled, with a few flurries of snowfall moving through the region – although barely enough to register on the snow stake. Temperatures will remain much closer to freezing at mid-mountain level in the region.
