Recent investment has really helped bolster Lenggries,

with new lifts and better snowmaking improving this resort significantly. When conditions allow, 34km slopes serve up over 1000m of ski vertical, including a top to bottom black and several long, winding reds through the trees. There’s also some fantastic, low-altitude beginner areas at the base of the hill, plus a good ski ski school.

Accommodation is found in the town of Lenggries, located around 1km from the base lifts – either a short drive, bus hop or for the more intrepid a 20 minute walk. There’s a good choice of restaurants and bars too, plus at the foot of the slopes there are some lively spots, especially at the weekend when the crowds from Munich arrive at the weekend.

Germany will benefit from the Nordstau event hitting the northern Alps this week, with good snowfall and dropping temperatures.

The freezing line will plummet from a daytime high above 2,000m on Wednesday to hit sea level on Friday morning. Driven by unsettled conditions moving in from the North, this will bring with it cloud and snowfall, with around 20cm expected down over Wednesday, Thursday and into Friday, benefiting principally upper slopes but falling across most elevations as the freezing line drops.

A burst of sunshine signals a brief return to spring freeze-thaw cycles, before the last tails of cloud bring with it a last flurry of snowfall to close out the weekend.
