Prato Nevoso is good option for beginners with some easy runs right by the centre of the resort.

There are also great opportunities for progression. Intermediates and ambitious beginners have many gentle, wide, long blues available to them. Generally found further up the mountain, there are some challenging reds for intermediates to test themselves on. Advanced skiers have limited options – there are only a few long blacks in the ski area. For those looking for a real challenge, heliskiing is available! The area is particularly good for snowboarders. There is even a dedicated board park.

Prato Nevoso has many more accommodation options than Artesina. Visitors can choose to stay in a chalet, hotel or apartment. The resort can be reached from Turin airport in just under two hours by car. Transfers from some other airports such as Nice and Milan are slightly longer but still feasible.

After a good couple of weeks for the Italian Alps, things settle down through this week as high pressure brings fine, dry and bright conditions to the region.

Temperatures will be warm, with the freezing line dropping only to 2,500m overnight and climbing as high as 3,500m in the midday sun. A rare flutter of cloud could move in over on Friday and Sunday, but otherwise spring is firmly here in the Italian Alps.

A couple of flurries of snow could fall early next week as the freezing line drops in to the new week, but it remains a bit too early to tell exactly how much, when, and where this might fall.
