The slopes may only cover 75km, but
there is good variety and excellent vertical to be had from the 2749m summit down to the lowest of the three base villages at 1400m. There are excellent long green runs in the lower, tree-lined part of the mountain, plus a number of long blues and reds. Up high, there is lots of steep, open terrain above the treeline, which after a powder day turns into a large off piste playground. Three long, fast chairs serve much of the terrain, but the summit is only accessible by a slow 4-seater.
There are two options in terms of accommodation. You can either stay at the foot of the slopes at Station 1400, which is home to some well-located apartment blocks and some decent value chalets. Further up the hill, there is Station 1600, which offers further slopeside accommodation. Both resorts are generally quiet at night, but offer up a decent selection of bars and restaurants. Both Lyon and Nice airports are around 4 hours away by car, with Grenoble a little closer at 3 hours away.
