But its not just about the lift system and the pistes, the two towns are vibrant but attractive places. Lively aprรจs ski bars make this a popular party resort, but donโt let this put you off as there are a lot of quieter parts and a great selection of good, family-run hotels.
Hinterglemm is home to the areaโs best beginner zone, with several drags and magic carpets accessing sunny, gentle slopes. Progression from here on to long, cruisey blues is excellent, with an great selection of well-groomed, wide pistes to choose from across the Skicircus.
Confident intermediates will love the sense of travel that you can gain reaching the far extremes of the region. Head over to Leogang to avoid the crowds on busy days and the long runs down from Schattberg offer up 1000m of vertical and can be delightfully quiet. For more advanced skiers and boarders, the slopes of Fieberbrunn are world-class โ indeed they are good enough to be a venue for the Freeride World Tour each winter.
Saalbach and Hinterglemm are separate villages, their centres 4km apart, which have expanded along the floor of their dead-end east-west valley. They haven’t quite merged, but a range of accommodation can be found in between the two. Both resorts, but Saalbach in particular, are noted for their vibrant, aprรจs ski and nightlife, with the party starting from 3pm and running till early morning.
Off the slopes, the Saalbach Valley is home to some excellent walking trails and groomed cross country routes. Up on the mountain, there are several tobogganing routes, including a floodlit trail down Reiterkogel.
Salzburg airport is around an hour and a half away from Saalbach, whilst Innsbruck sits around two and half hours away away.

Updated 02/05
The weekend starts mild across the region, with the freezing line ticking up to 4,000m. This sits under a layer of cloud cover, which will bring with it precipitation; this will fall as snow in many areas, as the freezing line drops from this peak as low as 1,500m over the course of the weekend.
Western areas will see around 12cm of snow, with easterly and southern areas seeing perhaps a foot on Monday along, with another 10cm before and after. This will remain across higher ground, as the freezing line doesn’t dip below 2,000m during this snowy period.
Unsettled conditions continue over the course of this week, with more snow on the way in parts.
Thus concludes our snow overviews for the 2024/25 season; thank you to everyone who has tuned in, and we look forward to seeing you again next season!
Meet your Rep using the details below, or reach out to them using the contact number or via the Ski Club App.
Your Ski Club Reps are in resort for one reason only; to help you discover better skiing. They are your personal resort gurus, with years of experience skiing here and around the world, who will bring you and your fellow Members together to conquer the mountain! Stay up to date with everything in resort, find the best spots for an aprรจs beer, and ski to your heart’s content.
Our Reps will be in resort between 27 December 2025 and 20 March 2026, skiing six days a week – Reps’ day off/changeover day is Saturday in this resort. Log your upcoming trip to Saalbach Hinterglemm now via the “My Trips” function on the Ski Club App to let your Rep know when you’ll be in resort. My first skiing trip was to St Anton at tender age of 22, which was a long time ago now. I caught the bug from the very beginning and I've not missed a season ever since. I just LOVE the mountains and have never had a bad day, just some better than others. This is my twelfth season leading/repping for the club, which has enabled to ski some great resorts where Iโve had some truly memorable moments and met some fantastic people along the journey. My favourite resort is Revelstoke in British Columbia with its legendary powder where my youngest daughter lived for six years and closely followed by Red Mountain where she lives now! Looking forward to starting the 25/26 season repping in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, then onto Bormio and back to Canada in March
Iโve been skiing for 30 years or more, worked a season in Val dโIsรจre and Klosters - including a summer season. Iโm returning to repping having first took the Repsโs course in 2004 and repped in Tignes the following 3 years. Challenging off-piste or social on-piste, I just love the environment and sharing the experience with others. Looking forward to skiing with you all.ย
1st trip aged 11 with SCGB to Scotland....a few leisure trips in early 20's...fast forward to 1999 when rugby playing days ended...started trying to improve as a skier rather than ski simply to enjoy the aprรจs ski....lucky enough to have got through the rep's course in 2004 and since then have enjoyed many wonderful days on and off the slopes with fellow ski enthusiasts. Off piste, on piste and afterwards ... skiing ... love it. Chartered Surveyor, self employed.
I became a Ski Club rep in Dec 2023 having started skiing in 1983, enjoying Freshtracks holidays and learning to ski off-piste with Yann and Diane in Flaine. I am passionate about being in the mountains and have skied many resorts in France, Austria, Italy and Bulgaria. To heli ski in North America is still on my bucket list. When I am not skiing you will find me mountain biking, walking and playing on the sea.
I am excited about the season ahead and meeting and skiing with fellow members!
I discovered skiing unexpectedly at the age of 40, and it quickly became my passion, some might even call it an obsession. Since then, Iโve been making up for lost time by exploring many of Europeโs larger ski resorts, as well as some hidden gems, and have made several trips to the incredible Whistler. Over the last few winters, Iโve had the privilege of spending multiple weeks on the slopes, deepening my experience, honing my skills, and expanding my knowledge of the sport.
In December 2022, I completed the Ski Club of Great Britain Repโs Course in Tignes, and since then, Iโve eagerly embraced the role of Ski Club Rep both in resorts and on Freshtracks Holidays. I canโt wait for the upcoming season, where I look forward to skiing with fellow Ski Club members and sharing my enthusiasm for this incredible sport!
I have been passionate about mountain sports for 35 years, have snowboarded for nearly 25 years and been a rep for the Ski Club since 2004. That has led me to skiing with other Ski Club members in the USA, Canada, Italy, France, Switzerland and Austria. I look forward to meeting new members and sharing the joy of the mountains.
