Most of the front of the mountain is rated blue, providing great intermediate terrain that holds its snow well due it its northerly aspect.
There is also one of the world’s best freestyle zones served by the Vista Express chairlift and steeper, long blacks off the Backside – served by two fast quads.
For accommodation, you can either stay in the purpose-built base village, or in one of the smart hotel complexes further up the hill. There is also the option to stay down in either Truckee or on the shores of Lake Tahoe itself in Kings Beach. Getting here is fairly simple from either San Francisco or Reno and it is a great option to combine a stay here with time at another Tahoe resort – such as Palisades Tahoe or Heavenly.

Mild conditions will return across the Left Coast this week and into this weekend, thanks to a “pineapple express” atmospheric river bringing warm air in off the Pacific. Sun will dominate across the region which has seen many resorts shut up shop already for the summer in the wake of a disastrous conditions.
Bitterly cold weather moves in for the Ice Coast this week which will ease as the weekend approaches, and a few flurries of snow move in. A big dump is expected on the weekend as temperatures plummet again with about a foot expected down on Sunday night and into Monday.
