The beginners runs are wide and plentiful. The Camino is an excellent, winding, tree-lined, green run which is good for progression. Intermediates are also well served in Chapelco. There are some fantastic tree-lined runs which can be accessed from the Silla Rancho Grande chairlift. For advanced skiers, most of the best areas are found off piste and require avalanche safety equipment. The back bowls offer some very tough challenges.
Most people choose to stay in San Martin de Los Andes – here accommodation options are diverse. There is also a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants in the town. A closer option is to stay in Los Pendientes which is usually ski- in from Chapelco. In order to get to Chapelco from Buenos Aries, it is best to fly to San Martin de Los Andes and then travel the final 15km by car.
